Managers and business owners know that Facebook is a business tool, but may not know why. They just know that “everyone else is doing it.” There are four reasons that I’d like to share with you today ....
1. Brand Visibility.
With 500+ million users, there are a lot of people ready to engage with you. The more “likes” (fans) of your business page, the greater your visibility to Facebook users. Facebook pages provide a web presence that empowers businesses and nonprofits with capabilities similar to a website. You can consider your Facebook Page as your “second” website because it allows for a message board, custom html or flash for creating a custom design, photo gallery to display products, event calendar to notify about upcoming events or take registrations, and much, much more!

Shelterhouse is a non-profit organization serving Midland and Gladwin counties that's committed to providing safety, shelter, advocacy and counseling to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We worked with Shelterhouse to provide a new website primarily focused on helping potential Shelterhouse clients easily access the website to gain knowledge and help.
From a marketing standpoint, the website is now their primary vehicle for communication about the organization, with web pages for news, events, what’s happening, and more. It also provides means for easier volunteer sign-up with an online form and for easier donations with an online donation system. And don't forget to check on the educational resources pages for information and links to great articles and studies.

Are they “fans” or “likes”? With the recent change in Facebook, many people are confused about what to call Facebook business page fans. Facebook changed the way people are described when they click to become associated and participate in a Facebook page. They now count these users as the number of “People Who Like This Page.” The “liking” part makes more sense because of how Facebook users already interact, share and communicate. A huge reason for the change is Facebook wants to empower websites with “like” buttons to push more and more interactions back to Facebook.
Bottom line: Even though they click “like”, these people are still fans. So, a major goal for your business Facebook page is to continue to increase the number of fans.

Online videos are a “hot” commodity that can bring real value to your business or nonprofit website. Not only do they help convey your message more effectively than text or photos, but they also give you a better online footprint!
Videos (like those posted on YouTube) are indexed by search engines. Videos can have a greater chance of being on page 1 than regular page text! It is estimated that for keywords that Google provides video results, you are 50 times more likely to appear on page 1, compared to regular website text.
