So, you're creating a business page on Facebook... how do you pick the name for that page? Should it be the name of your company? A favorite product or service? Your tagline or motto? Big companies with several brands or an international presence might create a separate page for each brand and/or each country. If you're a small company, you should only need one Facebook page and you'll probably want to use the company name. But what if it is already taken by another company? What do you do then? For example, if you're Rose Insurance, located in Michigan and there are two other companies by the same name in other states, what should you do? If you're the first, claim "Rose Insurance." If someone already claimed it, use something like "Rose Insurance of Michigan." Also, please keep in mind that Facebook has 3 guidelines for page names (as of July 2010):
Does your Facebook page follow the rules? The GEMS Solutions facebook page name is "GEMS Solutions: Generating e-Marketing Strategies & Solutions" because that's what the G.E.M.S. stands for (and we didn't know about that rule when we created it!). Will facebook revoke our page due to their 3rd rule? We'll have to wait and see! Please learn from our mistakes and do it right! Do you have any examples of companies breaking these rules? Please post your comments below!
